Janine Eser is a South African/American writer and producer. She is writing the screenplay adaptation of Trevor Noah’s bestselling memoir, Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood, which has Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o attached to star. She was the script editor and Associate Producer on the Academy Award-winning film Tsotsi. She wrote Madiba, a six-part mini-series about Nelson Mandela (starring Laurence Fishburne on BET in 2017). In 2014, Janine was nominated for the Best Screenplay Award at the South African Film and Television Awards for co-writing Fanie Fourie’s Lobola. As an actress, she was best known for Alien Hunter, Merlin, and A Reasonable Man.
